They crossed into Canada after the defeat at Bear Paw, Mont. Eventually, about 1910, Sundown and his wife returned to Nez Perce country. He won the titles of world champion saddle bronc rider and rodeo performer of the year at the 1916 Pendleton, Ore., Roundup - at the age of 53]
